Resection of Superior Vermian Hemangioma

Resection of superior vermis hemangioma

Surgery was performed on the vermis (central part of the cerebellum) of a 66-year-old patient who could not walk. This relatively small vascular appendage is located in a sensitive part of the cerebellum, which is related to body balance. First, as much skull bone as needed is removed. Then we move slowly and delicately towards the tumor. In this case, the tumor is close to the 4th ventricle. After observing the necessary measures to avoid damaging the brain, the tumor is slowly shrunk by electric current and then removed with the help of a diamond knife. After controlling the bleeding, the skull is closed and the MRI results confirm the improvement of the patient's condition.
